History of the Sartell Senior Connection

In September of 2007 Chris Kosloski and Ann Doyscher - Domres of Sartell - St. Stephen Community Education met with Steve Hennes and Jess Whitrock of the Whitney Senior Center, Anythony Fenstad of Country Manor, and Myron and Connie Umerski, volunteers at the Whitney Senior Center to discuss ideas of bringing senior programming to the Sartell area.  Following the meeting Ann Doyscher - Domres asked Country Manor if they would be interested in co-sponsoring a senior focus group in Sartell.  Anthony  Fenstad copied Gail Rucks from Country Manor Apartments on the correspondence.  She knew that Opportunity Manor was also looking into hosting such an event with Central Minnesota Council on Aging.  Barb Rebishchke of Opportunity Manor, Jon Knopik of the Central MN Council on Aging, Gail Rucks of Country Manor and Ann Doyscher - Domres of Sartell - St. Stephen Community Education met and put together the forum that was titled Building a Senior Friendly Community.  The first meeting was held in November 2007 and approximately 40 people attended.  From that initial meeting the seniors identified 3 areas of concern that they would like to work on for a future group.  Those areas were: programs, publicity, and taxes.  Task forces were formed and tasks assigned.
The group is now formally called the Sartell Senior Connection.  It meets the second Tuesday of each month at Sartell City Hall.
