Sartell-St. Stephen Early Childhood Program Rated Four Stars by Parent Aware

The Sartell-St. Stephen Early Childhood programs received the highest possible rating, four stars, for preschool education from Parent Aware.  Parent Aware supports a rating tool for selecting high-quality child care and early education.  The ratings are based on the use of best practices for preparing children for kindergarten and demonstrating a commitment to quality early child care and education.

"The four star Parent Aware rating from the Minnesota Department of Education is an affirmation of Sartell-St. Stephen Early Childhood Program's strength and effectiveness in preparing our youngest learners for the kindergarten experience," shared Barbara Eckberg, Early Childhood Programs Coordinator for the Sartell-St. Stephen School District.

“We are proud or our early childhood staff and initiatives as our district continues to align and support these programs within our E-12 system,” said Mike Spanier, Interim Superintendent of Sartell-St. Stephen School District.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services leads Parent Aware in coordination with the Minnesota Office of Early Learning.  Parent Aware began as a privately-funded pilot project to address the fact, that in Minnesota today, nearly half of children arrive at kindergarten under prepared. The state of Minnesota has adopted the program and will make Parent Aware ratings available statewide by 2015. Read more at parentawareratings.org.
