Sartell-St. Stephen Students' ACT Scores Outperform State, Nation

The students in the Sartell-St. Stephen Schools continue to perform better than the ACT state and national averages at all levels.    The ACT consists of exams in English, Math, Reading and Science and includes benchmarks that determine students’ readiness for college.

ISD 748 district results show students continue to outperform state and national averages.  In addition to being above state and national average, ISD 748 continues to have a higher than average percentage of our students taking the ACT exam.   "With Minnesota having the highest national average for the eigth consecutive year, it shows the strength of the students, staff, and families to make exceeding these results a win for our community," said Mike Spanier, Learning Services Director for the Sartell-St. Stephen School District.

"We are also above state and national averages in every benchmark category.  We also exceed expectations when we look at the percentage of our students who meet all four benchmark categories," Spanier shares.  "Statewide, 36% of students who take the ACT met all four benchmarks.  Within the Sartell-St. Stephen School District, 44% of the students who took the exam met all four benchmarks."

"Even though we continue to have above average scores, we will continue to review and evaluate the rigor of our current courses and the engagement process of students in early college and career awareness," stated Superintendent Joe Hill.  "The district also will move forward with establishing further partnerships with post-secondary schools to further understand what students need to know to be ready for the educational opportunities and the workplace as a 21st century learner.  Our school and district culture  is one of inspiration, support, and high expectations for all."
