Facilities Update
With the passing of the school bonds this past November, there will be several updates and upgrades happening to our facilities over the next two years. This page will provide updates on progress and additional information in regards to these construction and improvement projects. Click here for the most recent update.

October Update
The west wing of the District Service Center is scheduled to be moved in to beginning October 29th. This will include the final relocation of Community Education, the Early Childhood Library and offices, and the district nurse.
The football press box will be completed within the next few weeks also, with the original one being updated to building codes.
September Update
The Early Childhood Center was classrooms open and students are learning. The new age-appropriate playground was also installed the week of September 10th and should be ready to play on. The remainder of the ECC at the District Service Center which will include early childhood offices, the library and Community Education Facilities is currently under construction. The renovated spaces are now being occupied though there is still work to be completed. Visitors can enter through the east doors to access business services, the Superintendetn's Office, food services, Community Education and other district offices.
Students are currently using the track for practices and physical education classes. Sabre Field had its first game on Friday, September 14.
Roofing projects are coming to completion for this season with Sartell Middle School being very close to completed and the District Service Center being completed by the end of the month.
Parking lot projects are all complete until this Spring when the final overlay will be added to the SHS lot.
August Update
Parking lot work is starting this month. The entrance to the Sartell High School Parking lot will be redirected starting Monoday, August 13th. It will take about two to three days for the entrance and two or three days for the exit to be completed, weather permitting. There are barricades set up to direct traffic flow during this time. It will be dug out and a 3-inch wear-coat will be put down for the winter season with the final overlay being done in the spring with the rest of the lot.
August Update

The Pine Meadow parking lot has had the worst areas dug out and filled back it. The cracks will be filled on August 12th and 13th at night. They will be putting a granite chip coat on after that which will take two weeks to set up. Then the lot will be swept and restriped.
July Update
Some of this information is repeated from the June Update, with the most current information provided.
- Renovating the current District Office - This new space, which will now be known as the District Service Center, will house the district early childhood center, community education, district service offices and space for community use including the Sartell Senior Connection. The early childhood center which is the first phase is anticipated to be completed in late August. The renovation includes upgrades to the heating and ventilation systems increasing energy efficiency and reducing operating costs for the district.
- Replacing the Middle School tennis courts, District track and football field adjustments - All projects should be completed by the beginning of the fall school year. The track replacement transformed our original 8-lane yard track to a 9-lane meter track. The size of the meter track required needed adjustment to the football field and long/triple jump and pole vault areas to the south end of the new track. The new grass is in place and we are hopeful for good growth by first whistle of the fall season!
Roofing - Sartell Middle School, Sartell High School and the District Service Center all have roofing underway or planned to be completed. Sartell High School will be completely finished by the beginning of the school year along with the north end of the Middle School and some areas of the District Service Center. The south end of the Middle School and the remainder of the District Service Center will be completed next summer.
- Other projects - Sartell High School's swimming pool is being re-plastered. The gym floors at Pine Meadow Elementary and Sartell Middle School will be completed in August. The entrance and exit areas of the High School parking lot will be done this summer with a wear coat and a final overlay to be completed next summer with the remaining parking lot projects. The Pine Meadow parking lot will be crack filled this summer with seal coating completed next summer.
June Update
There is a great deal of construction activity happening at district schools and sites this summer.
District Track and Tennis Court Project
The eight-lane yard track, originally built in the 1970’s, is being replaced with a nine-lane meter track. This change in track structure required the track to be shifted farther to the east and a re-centering of the football field. The tennis courts and track base tar coat should be complete by July 1st and will require approximately 30 days to cure before the running and tennis surfaces are applied. The football field will be resurfaced with natural sod at the same time and is on schedule to be ready for the fall season.
The district received all the building permits the first week of June.
District Office/Early Childhood Center
Phase One of the District Office renovation project started Wednesday, June 6th with demolition work. This project includes the east wing of the building and the south end classroom areas. This phase will be completed at the end of July, allowing Early Childhood classrooms to be finished for fall programming. Phase Two of the project will include the north end of the building and is projected to start by mid-October.
Roofing Projects
All roofing projects will provide improved insulation and engineered drainage. The Sartell Middle School roof construction will begin on Monday, June 11th. Sartell High School roof work will begin Tuesday, June 12th. To manage the localized odor of roofing and tar product during construction, the district will be installing carbon filters in the school’s air system for the summer.
Sartell Middle School
The north end of the middle school roof will be completed this summer and the south end will be completed in the summer of 2013.
Sartell High School
The original roofing area and soffit at Sartell High School will be replaced this summer.
Miscellaneous District Projects
The High School pool will be re-plastered in mid-July starting approximately July 16th and will take about two weeks to complete.
Gym floors at two buildings will be started the first part of July.
· The Pine Meadow gym floor will receive a new surface coating.
· The Sartell Middle School floor will be replaced with a wood floor.
The Sartell Middle School electrical switch gear providing all power to the building will be replaced starting around July 19th and will take approximately a week to complete.
April Update
Roofing bids are completed and work on the roofs will start as soon as school is out and is scheduled to be done by the start of school. If the roofs do not get completed due to unforeseen weather complications, they will be completed in 2013.
The track and district office bids are due next week so the timelines are still tentative until bids are finalized and a contract has been signed with the approved vendor. The current plan is that the District Office remodel will be done in two phases. Phase one will include the east wing of building that most recently housed Benton Stearns programs, the gym and the south end classrooms. Phase two will include where the current district offices are.
