Pine Meadow Elementary was completed in fall, 1999. The 700 pupil facility accommodates students in Kindergarten through 4th grades. The school has a large gymnasium, air-conditioned media center, and three academic “Houses” which help contribute to a smaller school feel. The Yellow, Green, and Blue Houses are located in each of three wings which surround the media center. A computer lab, adjacent to the media center, offer students excellent opportunity to work on keyboarding, computer literacy, and school work requiring access to internet information or computer software. Pine Meadow teachers also integrate technology through a mobile laptop lab, SMARTBoards, Qwizdom student response systems and projection units.
The multi-purpose room serves as a third gymnasium station as well as a bright, cheery cafeteria. Pine Meadow offers all of the traditional educational options for students but also is a state-of-the-art facility helping to prepare students for years to come.
The media center at Pine Meadow Elementary is an exceptional facility providing opportunities for media instruction as well as access to numerous hard copy books and resource materials. A full-time media specialist and a media assistant help children in the media center promote understanding of computers, multi-media, and access to information.
Curriculum and Services
Pine Meadow Elementary students benefit from the services of a school social worker, health assistant, special education teachers, an Academic Extensions teacher, and a Title I program. Students’ needs are met in a variety of programs specific to individual academic, social, emotional or physical needs.
Reading and language arts are a primary focus for students at Pine Meadow Elementary School. Math, science, social studies as well as fine arts are integral to the elementary school program.
Several opportunities are available for students who need extra assistance or a “boost” in learning reading or mathematics. Title I, Targeted Services (offered in summer), and use of paraprofessional staff and volunteers help students be as successful as possible during their elementary school years.
Reporting to Parents
Student progress is reported to parents through report cards delivered to parents three times each year. Parent teacher conferences are held two times each year. Parents may request special conferences by contacting their child’s teacher and/or principal.
