PME Behavior Program: In the Zone!

Get in the Zone is a broad range of systematic and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes while creating a positive learning environment.

  • For all members of our community
  • Focusing on postive behavior
  • Promoting behavioral expectations of respect, safety and welcome

Expectations

Respect: We will treat ourselves, others and the school with respect.

Welcome: We will welcome others to work and play with us. We invite others to join in and we cooperate and share.

Safety: We strive to be safe by keeping our hands and feet to ourselves, using equipment apropriately and following directions.

The Zones

Pine Meadow has designated different zones throughout the building that have varying behavior expectations. Our zones include:

  • The Learning Zone (all classroom spaces including specialist areas)
  • Cafeteria Zone
  • Hallway Zone (transitioning between learning zones)
  • Playground Zone
  • Bathroom Zone
  • Morning Zone (while waiting for classes to begin.

Each zone has rules based on the three areas: Respect, Safety and Welcome.

Voice Levels

A number system for maintaining appropriate volume levels includes:

  • 0 = No Talking
  • 1 = Whisper
  • 2 = Talking
  • 3 = Having Fun
  • 4 = Outside Voices

Show Me 5: Full Attention

  • Sit up straight
  • Ears listening
  • Lips closed
  • Eyes on speaker
  • Hands & feet quiet

Home Connection

Does the voice level at your house ever get too loud? Try using PME's voice level system to remind your child of the appropriate volume for different situations. Need to get your child's attention? Using "Show me 5" is a reminder of how we look and act when listening. By using these tools together we can all "get in the zone"!
