Homecoming Carnival Schedule: Wednesday 24 September we will have an altered schedule to accomodate the Carnival, classes will follow the chart below.

Homecoming T-Shirts: Homecoming shirts will be available all week for $15.  See a Student Council member for details and to purchase.

Homecoming Dance: The dance will be held in the Auxiliary Gym (enter through door 39).  Your homecoming t-shirt is your ticket into the dance; a ticket price has yet to be determined for those who do not purchase a homecoming shirt.  Guests of SHS students need to be signed-up in the Main Office by Friday 26 September and will need to have their photo ID with them to be admitted to the dance.

Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) meeting will be held on Monday 6 October at the District Service Center at 6:00pm. All parents of students with special needs are invited to attend.

Interested in joining Winter Color Guard?  Join us for a short informational meeting on Wednesday 24 September at 8am in the band room.

Girls Fall League Basketball will be starting soon (played at Sauk Rapids).  If you'd like to participate please bring your $30 fee to one of the following captains; Kendra Raths, Hailey Winter or Tiana Wood.

All Sport Student Activity Passes: Are available in the Activities Office.  The cost is $30.  This pass will gain you entrance to all regular season Sabre athletic games!

Future Educators Club: Informational meeting – all are welcome!  Mrs. Heckman’s room C107, Thursday 18 September at 8am.  See you there!

Upcoming College Visits to SHS College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University - Monday 22 September @ 10:15am; Concordia College Moorhead - Thursday 25 September @ 11:15am.  Sign up on Naviance to attend.

National College Fair: The Minnesota National College Fair offers high school students and their families the opportunity to meet face to face with college representatives from throughout the country. Attendees will learn about admission requirements, financial aid, course offerings, and campus environment, as well as other information pertinent to the college selection process. At the fair’s counseling center, students and parents can discuss their individual needs with college experts. Big Brothers/Big Sisters: Is currently taking applications for mentors in our school-based Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.  If interested please see Jackie Wruck (by the concession stand).

From the Health Office: All immunization records are due to the health office by Friday 19 September.  All students who are non-compliant with state immunization laws will be excluded from school starting Friday 19 September.  Please contact the SHS Health Office at 320.656.0748 ex3220 with any questions.

12th Grade Announcements:

Senior Group Photo: Will be taken on Friday 26 September at 8:15am (SHARP!) at the football field. Wear Sabre colors/senior shirts. See Mrs. Heckman with questions.

Seniors Athletes apply now for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program: DEADLINE is 10/3/2014.  The application is open to any high school senior who:

Is a senior during the 2014-2015 academic year, graduating in 2015.
Has maintained at least a B (3.0) GPA during grades 9, 10, and 11.
Participates in one or more school-sponsored extracurricular sports.

The culmination of this process takes place in December in conjunction with the National Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation during Heisman Weekend in New York City. It’s here where Wendy’s selects its National High School Heisman Winners during a broadcast on ESPN networks. This partnership ensures that high school winners enjoy the prestige of national recognition for their tremendous achievements with a little preparation and effort, completing the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program online application is easy. And as your performance in the classroom, on the field, and in the community shows, you already know all about preparing to do your best!

Apply to be a Junior Rotarian TODAY!  Meet business owners, managers and community leaders and learn about opportunities to make a difference in Sartell and the world.  Members may be considered for a scholarship to be awarded in the spring at Senior Awards Night.  Additional information and applications are available in the Counseling Office.
 
Midwest Student Exchange Program is a tuition reduction program that makes attending out of state colleges and universities more affordable for non-resident students.  To learn about colleges that participate (from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska) go to http://msep.mhec.org/

Minnesota also has reciprocity agreements with South Dakota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.  Information about these programs can be found at www.ohe.state.mn.us.

PSAT Test:  The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a standardized practice test for the SAT and gives students a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship qualifying process.  Students interested must sign up in the Counseling Office by 30 September, the cost is $15.  Those who sign up will receive a practice test. Additional informaiton is available online (click here).

11th Grade Announcements:

Learn about the Post Secondary Enrollment Options Programs at SCSU and SCTCC, and how you can earn college credits while in high school!  Wednesday 24 September.  Sessions at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm; St. Cloud State University campus, Miller Center 720 Fourth Avenue South, St Cloud.  No RSVP required.

ACT Test: Minnesota is providing an opportunity for all juniors to take the ACT free of charge this year.  We will be offering the test at Sartell on April 28th.  Many students choose to take the test more than once.  Students who are looking at playing sports at a Division 1 or 2 level do have to take the ACT on a National Test Date – those dates are available at www.actstudent.org.  Sartell will still offer ACT testing for the September, October, April, and June.

Past Information

Captains Council will meet at 8:00am on Thursday 18 September in the Auditorium. All sports captain for 2014-15 seasons are expected to attend.

Powder Puff Football: There will be a meeting on Monday 15 September for any girls interested in participating in Powder Puff Football.  Juniors will meet @ 8:00am, Seniors @ 8:15am in Mrs. Fredrickson's room.

College in the Schools registration is happening next week.  Students will be enrolling in the courses during their class.  Students who qualify for the college credit in their courses should make sure they check with their teachers if they feel they missed the process.  Deadline will be 9/12 for enrollment.

TARGET Club: There will be a TARGET meeting on Wednesday 10 September at 8:30am in the foods room.  New members are welcome.

FCA Meeting: Wednesday 10 September 8:00-9:00am in the theater.

Fall Athletic & Activity Captains: There is a mandatory meeting in Mrs. Fredrickson's room on Wednesday 10 September at 9:00am.  Please see Mrs. Fredrickson if you are not able to attend the meeting

7th Street Singers: Is a vocal ensemble that sings classical, jazz and pop music and go caroling in December.  If you are interested in auditions-they will be held before and after school Monday and Tuesday September 8 & 9.  Sign-up on the Music Office window for a 5-minute time slot.
