General Announcements:

Activity Early Outs: None.

World Day of Bullying Prevention: on Monday 6 October – The TARGET Club is asking you to participate in BLUE SHIRT DAY® WORLD DAY OF BULLYING PREVENTION by wearing a BLUE SHIRT. Wear your BLUE SHIRT and join us in solidarity to stop bullying and cyberbullying.

Costa Rica Travelers: There will be a meeting in Mrs. Driste’s room (C214) on Tuesday 7 October at 8am AND at 3:15 that same day to kick off our next fundraiser. Come to whichever time works best for you. Questions? See Mrs. Driste.

Boys Basketball players: There will be open gym every Wednesday and Friday morning from 7:30-8:15am starting on 1 October through 7 November. See Coach Oistad for additonal details.  Come and get ready for the beginning of the season!

Spanish Club will hold its next meeting on Thursday 2 October at 8:00am in Mrs. Madrigal Rooms (D204)

College Visits at SHS:  Friday 3 October; College of St. Catherine @ 2pm and Hamline University @ 2:15pm. Sign up on Naviance to attend.

The Sartell Theater Department presents “The Matchmaker.”  This hilarious farce showcases the miscommunication of the sexes and the need to have a little adventure in life.  The show opens Thursday 2 October at 7:00pm.  It continues on Friday at 7:00pm closing Saturday at 2:00pm.  Tickets will be on sale at the door 40 minutes prior to curtain.  $3.00 for students, $5.00 for adults.

Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) meeting will be held on Monday 6 October at the District Service Center at 6:00pm. All parents of students with special needs are invited to attend.

12th Grade Announcements:

Seniors Athletes apply now for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program: DEADLINE is 10/3/2014.  The application is open to any high school senior who:

Is a senior during the 2014-2015 academic year, graduating in 2015.
Has maintained at least a B (3.0) GPA during grades 9, 10, and 11.
Participates in one or more school-sponsored extracurricular sports.

The culmination of this process takes place in December in conjunction with the National Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation during Heisman Weekend in New York City. It’s here where Wendy’s selects its National High School Heisman Winners during a broadcast on ESPN networks. This partnership ensures that high school winners enjoy the prestige of national recognition for their tremendous achievements with a little preparation and effort, completing the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program online application is easy. And as your performance in the classroom, on the field, and in the community shows, you already know all about preparing to do your best!

Apply to be a Junior Rotarian TODAY!  Meet business owners, managers and community leaders and learn about opportunities to make a difference in Sartell and the world.  Members may be considered for a scholarship to be awarded in the spring at Senior Awards Night.  Additional information and applications are available in the Counseling Office.

ACT Test: Minnesota is providing an opportunity for all juniors to take the ACT free of charge this year.  We will be offering the test at Sartell on April 28th.  Many students choose to take the test more than once.  Students who are looking at playing sports at a Division 1 or 2 level do have to take the ACT on a National Test Date – those dates are available at www.actstudent.org.  Sartell will still offer ACT testing for the September, October, April, and June.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters:  If you are interested in joining there will be  a training on Wednesday 1 October at 8:30am in the foods room.  See Jackie Wruck, if you have questions.

Picture Retakes are scheduled for Wednesday 1 October.  Forms are available in the Main Office.  Please remember to return your original picture package at the time of retakes.

Girls Fall League Basketball will be starting soon (played at Sauk Rapids).  If you'd like to participate please bring your $30 fee to one of the following captains; Kendra Raths, Hailey Winter or Tiana Wood.

PSAT Test:  The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a standardized practice test for the SAT and gives students a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship qualifying process.  Students interested must sign up in the Counseling Office by 30 September, the cost is $15.  Those who sign up will receive a practice test. 
 
All Sport Student Activity Passes: Are available in the Activities Office.  The cost is $30.  This pass will gain you entrance to all regular season Sabre athletic games!

National College Fair: The Minnesota National College Fair offers high school students and their families the opportunity to meet face to face with college representatives from throughout the country. Attendees will learn about admission requirements, financial aid, course offerings, and campus environment, as well as other information pertinent to the college selection process. At the fair’s counseling center, students and parents can discuss their individual needs with college experts.
