School Board Appointment of New Members

At the meeting held on Monday, June 25th at 6:30 p.m., the Sartell-St. Stephen School Board will moved to appoint two short-term board members to fill recent vacancies.  Those appointed will serve through until January 2013 and November 2012 respectively.   Longer term members will be elected from the November ballot.  The two individuals appointed were Chris Gross and Gary Schnellert.

The Board took applications from May 21st through May 31st and received six applications from interested candidates.  All six candidates were interviewed by the Board at open meetings that were called for this purpose on June 20th and 21st.  Following the final interview on June 21st, the Board discussed the candidates based on the qualities defined in the application materials and shaped by Minnesota School Boards Association information, and have identified two finalists to be brought forward for consideration at their June 25th meeting.

"The Board would like to thank all of the applicants who came forward and offered to serve the District in these short-term positions," shared Mary McCabe, Sartell-St. Stephen School Board Chair.  Anyone interested in serving on the Board is encouraged to file for office during the candidate filing period from July 31st through August 14th.  There will be four positions on the ballot for the School Board in November.  Candidates can file at the District Service Center for either the two-year position to fill the remainder of a vacated term, or for one of the four-year positions up for election.  More information on filing for office will be available in the coming weeks.  Please contact the Superintendent's Office with any questions regarding filing at 320-656-3715.
