New Families Meeting

This meeting is for families that are new to the school district to get information about the district.  This meeting will be held at Pine Meadow Elementary in the Media Center.

Six Applications Received for Open Board Seats

Six people have submitted applications for the School Board vacanicies.  The people who have applied are:

The Sartell-St. Stephen Board of Education accepted applications from residents of Independent School District 748 who are interested in serving on the Board of Education to fill one of the two vacant director’s positions created by resignations.

New Accountability System Released

The Minnesota Department of Education released its Multiple Measurement Ratings (MMR) for schools in Minnesota.  This system replaces the past progress system of the No Child Left Behind Law, for which Minnesota has obtained a waiver.  The MMR gauges school performance in four areas:

School Board Special Meeting and Work Session

Settlement Reached with Sartell Education Association

The Board of Education of the Sartell St. Stephen School District is pleased to announce that it has reached a settlement for the 2011-2013 contract year with the Sartell Education Association. The contract provisions include a 1.75% increase in the first year of the contract and a 1.0% increase in the second year.

Board Member Relocates Out of District and Resigning from Board of Education

Current Board Member and Vice Chair for the Sartell-St. Stephen School District, Patrick Jacobson-Schulte, will be relocating to a home located outside of the Sartell-St. Stephen School District that meets the needs of his family.  Jacobson-Schulte will be resigning from the Board effective May 30, as it is a requirement that school board members are residents of the district they serve.  The Board will discuss how they will move forward at an upcoming work session on May 14.

A: The board is made up of six people elected at large to four-year terms. School board elections are held on the second Tuesday in November.

School Board Meeting Information

The board’s role is to provide leadership and establish policy for the school district. The board sets the district goals, determines the curriculum and allocates resources to meet its objectives. The board is accountable to the State of Minnesota and the people of the Sartell-St. Stephen School District. Board members are also responsible for providing oversight to make sure that students are achieving at high levels and that public resources are being effectively and efficiently managed.
