Welcome!

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I have the privilege of working with your son or daughter in Spanish this semester, and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am Beth Driste, one of the Spanish teachers at Sartell High School.

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and my master's degree from St. Mary's University. While I was a new teacher to SHS in the 2008-2009 school year, I came with many years of teaching experience. I have taught at Lakeville High School, Cambridge-Isanti High School, and most recently Becker High School.

I believe deeply that each of us possesses the ability to learn, and to succeed. We all have different learning styles, different areas of strength and different areas of growth. We will utilize all of them at some point in Spanish class. I know that success means different things for each of us, and I invite students to identify their own definition, while at the same time challenging them to set the bar high and really work to achieve their goals. I will do anything and everything I can to help students learn, knowing that ultimately I can't do the learning for them.

I invite you to please read through the syllabus and course expectations attached on the webpage so that you are familiar with the routines of our Spanish class. There may be times when your son or daughter asks you to be a part of his or her homework assignment, and I invite you to participate in their learning process!

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. I look forward to working as a team with your son or daughter and you!

Beth Driste
