    Calendar
The following outlines learning models at each school for the next three weeks:

    • Week of November 16-20: PreK-12: All schools in Distance Learning
    • Week of November 23-27
      • Monday-Wednesday: All schools in Distance Learning

    • Week of November 30 - December 4: PreK-12: All schools in Distance Learning

    Weather-related School Schedules
Due to potential variances in building-specific learning models, the school district will weigh each weather situation individually and make a public announcement via our normal protocols (direct emails/texts/phone calls to families and via media outlets, our district website and social media). A reminder that families may modify their Skylert notification preferences at any time in Skyward Family Access (click the Skylert tab on the left menu). Here is an overview of what weather schedules may look like with each learning model:

    • Distance Learning: the school district will likely not have two-hour late starts or snow days. Students should plan on attending school remotely per their regular schedule.
    • Hybrid or In-Person: schools may have two-hour late starts and/or cancellations for snow days.

    COVID-19 Symptoms and Reporting
It is very important for families to continue to check for symptoms and report COVID-19-related illnesses and positive test results to our school nurses using this form. This information is critical to our ability to keep track of school-specific case rates and community spread which is used to assist us in bringing students back to in-person instruction. A reminder that our COVID-19 dashboard shows how many students and staff have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Note that the dashboard only indicates positive cases and does not include those who have had close contact with a positive case and need to quarantine.

RIS Re-take picture days (November 16 and 18) have been postponed.  At this time new dates/times are not available.

November 11 email from Principal Dingmann
    Greetings Riverview Families,

On November 9, the Sartell-St. Stephen School District made the decision (after reviewing multiple data points) to move Grades 3-12 to Distance Learning starting on November 16th. As we prepare to make this change, please spend some time reviewing the following document for specific information regarding Distance Learning at Riverview Intermediate School: RIS Distance Learning Model Information. This plan shares general information about Distance Learning, our daily schedule, attendance information and much more. We will continue to communicate important information from the Riverview Intermediate School office to support our students and families during Distance Learning. Classroom teachers will also continue communicating with students and families through Schoology. As a reminder, all RIS students will attend school from home tomorrow, Thursday, November 12th (purple day) and students do not have school on Friday, November 13th. This is a day for teachers to plan and prepare for Distance Learning.

If you have questions, please call the Riverview Intermediate School office at 320-253-2200 so we can route you to the appropriate staff member.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

  • ISD 748 families,
This is a special communication outlining changes to the learning models at Riverview Intermediate School, Sartell Middle School, and Sartell High School and extends the Distance Learning model timeline at Oak Ridge Early Learning Center and Pine Meadow Primary School.

Due to COVID-19-related staffing shortages, these schools will move to Distance Learning beginning on Monday, November 16. We anticipate staying in this model at all schools until at least Friday, December 4. Additionally, High School activities and athletics will continue, but spectators will not be allowed beginning Monday, November 16. In-person Middle School activities will be discontinued at this time.

We have added a COVID-19 dashboard to our webpage for you to follow how many students and staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Note that the dashboard only indicates positive cases, it does not include those who have had close contact with a positive case and need to quarantine.

Even though we continue to see low transmission rates in our students; there is a surge in community transmission rates. We believe moving to Distance Learning is the safest decision for our students and staff. The District will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any changes with families.

In order for staff to prepare for this transition, there will be no school on Friday, November 13 for students in grades 3-12 at RIS, SMS and SHS.

Distance Learning daily student schedules will be different than hybrid schedules, so families should watch for important information from their school. Families should plan for live-virtual class sessions and offline learning experiences Monday-Friday. Here is a list of Distance Learning Expectations for families and students.

The following outlines learning models at each school for the next four weeks:

    Week of November 9

    • PreK-2 (ORELC and PMPS) continue in Distance Learning
    • Grades 3-12
      • Tuesday: Blue Hybrid Day
      • Wednesday: Silver Hybrid Day
      • Thursday: Purple Hybrid Day (remote learning for all 3-12 students) - NOTE HYBRID CALENDAR CHANGE
      • Friday: No School for students; teacher preparation for transition. Foodservice will continue (see link below).

    Week of November 16-20

    • PreK-12: All schools in Distance Learning

    Week of November 23-27

    • Monday-Wednesday: All schools in Distance Learning
    • Thursday-Friday: No School - Thanksgiving Break

    Week of November 30 - December 4

    • PreK-12: All schools in Distance Learning

    Meal Benefits
Minnesota provides school districts revenue based on students who are eligible for the free or reduced-price meal program. Schools must use this compensatory revenue to meet the needs of students who are behind their peers, such as instruction, instructional materials including digital learning and technology and bilingual programs. If your household is eligible to receive free or reduced price meals, please complete the application online in Skyward Family Access (instructions are on our Meal Benefits page) or Application for Educational Benefits and return it to the Food Service office.  Applications must be completed and returned, or completed online no later than December 15 so the school district can calculate our eligibility and report to the MN Department of Education. Please contact Sue Fibranz if you have any questions.

    Message from School Nurse -

    Dear RIS Families,

If your child(ren) has been absent from school because of quarantine related to COVID-19 symptoms of self, family or close contact and you are planning to return them to school; please notify your child’s school nurse BEFORE they return. The nurse tracks and adjusts attendance for COVID-19 related absences and needs to know of negative test results, alternate diagnosis, etc.

This communication can be by telephone call, voicemail or email. It is also very helpful if you communicate with all school nurses of your children affected by the quarantine throughout the district. This communication alleviates uncertainties and concerns and ensures a smooth return to school for your child(ren) and prevents you from receiving multiple calls from us.

As a safety precaution, children returning to school without prior communication from families must be pulled from the classroom and wait in a safe area away from others until follow-up is conducted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate through this year together.

We have included the Home-Screening Tool from the MN Department of Health, to determine if your child(ren) can attend school.

    1. Does your child have one or more of these symptoms?
    • Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
    • Difficulty or trouble breathing
    • New onset cough or a cough that gets worse
    • New loss of taste or smell

If “yes” to one or more of these symptoms, they must stay home and should stay away from others as much as possible, including family members.  All family members need to remain home.   Medical evaluation by a primary care provider or contact with the school nurse for further instruction is required to return to school and school activities. Parents or caregivers should notify the school, child care, or youth program.  If there are no symptoms, go to the next question.

    1. Does your child have at least two of these symptoms?

    • Sore throat
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Chills
    • Muscle pain
    • Excessive fatigue (extreme tiredness)
    • New or severe headache
    • New onset of nasal congestion or runny nose

If “yes” to at least two of these symptoms, they must stay home and should stay away from others as much as possible, including family members.  All family members need to remain home.   Medical evaluation by a primary care provider or contact with the school nurse for further instruction is required to return to school and school activities. Parents or caregivers should notify the school, child care, or youth program. For more information please refer to our COVID-19 page on the district website.

  • October 7 - Message from Principal Dingmann that was emailed to RIS families
    Riverview Families,

As you are aware, next Monday, October 12, we will be in a Hybrid Learning Model. I wanted to outline what this will look like for our students and families. We will be partnering with you to make this transition as smooth as possible for your child. Please join us in celebrating successes and be patient with us as we work through unforeseen challenges that may arise.

Click here to view Riverview’s Hybrid Learning Information.

     A few reminders:

    • RIS will not have classes for students on Friday, October 9 to help everyone prepare for our October 12 Hybrid start date.
    • Conferences: At this time, we believe the safest choice for parent-teacher conferences is to hold them virtually. You have previously signed up for a conference time in Skyward, if you have not signed up for a time please do so at your earliest convenience. As a family, you will still keep that same time you have reserved, but instead of coming into our building, you will be connecting with your child’s teacher via the platform Zoom. Parents and students should use the child’s iPad for conferences.
    • Zoom & iPads: Your child has been learning and practicing using Zoom on his/her iPad. Starting on Thursday, October 8, iPads will be going home with students. Students will be able to help parents navigate the Zoom app and access the Zoom link in Schoology for their scheduled conference time. Please assist your child to get in the habit of charging their iPad so it is ready when they are ready to learn.

If you did not receive my email message, please contact Sue Fibranz via email or phone 320.656.3781.

  • Riverview Families,

As you saw in Mr. Schwiebert’s communication, our COVID-19 county case rate has steadily increased and has met the threshold for changing the learning model at Riverview. We will be moving to a Hybrid Learning model starting Monday, October 12th. There will be no school for Riverview students on Friday, October 9th to allow for planning as we transition into a different learning model. More specifics on this model and what it will look like at Riverview will be sent out to families on Wednesday, October 7th.

At this time, we believe the safest choice for parent-teacher conferences is to hold them virtually. You have previously signed up for a conference time in Skyward, if you have not signed up for a time please do so at your earliest convenience. As a family you will still keep that same time you have reserved, but instead of coming into our building, you will be connecting with your child’s teacher via the platform Zoom. RIS School Forest:

Students at Riverview Intermediate will get hands-on with outdoor classrooms in the school's backyard this fall. Last fall, as planning for the new intermediate building was happening, Riverview applied for and was awarded to be a School Forest. The Minnesota School Forest Program is a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota schools. The program provides a variety of benefits to increase outdoor education activities. As part of the program, which started in 1949, Riverview is joining over 100 school forests in Minnesota totaling over 8,000 acres. Riverview Intermediate School is right next to an almost 60-acre plot of wooded land for their School Forest. All types of classes will be able to take advantage of the school forest as the program evolves. Riverview staff is excited about this opportunity as there are numerous ways to integrate and incorporate all subjects and disciplines by being outside and part of a School Forest. Riverview’s School Forest committee is looking for volunteers to assist in creating their outdoor classroom.
