    No School:   On Friday, February 1st, there is no school for students in grades 5-8 due to Parent/Teacher conferences. 

    Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences for students in grades 5-8 will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, Thursday, January 31st, and Friday, February 1st. To schedule a conference time, log into Skyward and click on “Teacher Conferences.” Please contact the middle school office with any questions. Parents of students in grades 6-8 in addition to meeting with your child’s advisor you will have the opportunity to schedule a conference time with any of your child’s teachers.  The conference times with your child’s classroom teachers will occur every hour at the thirty, forty, and fifty minute time slot (i.e. 4:30 p.m., 4:40 p.m. & 4:50 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 5:40 p.m. & 5:50 p.m., etc.). 

    Sartell after School Program for Grades 5-8:  Community Education is excited to offer a new after school program for students in grades 5-8.  The “Sartell after School Club” begins on Monday, February 4th.  Registration will be available starting on Monday, January 28th online at www.sartellststephencommunityed.com  or call 320-253-4036 and select option 1.  Additional details are available here: After School Program 

    SMS/SHS Jazz Night: On January 28th the Sartell High School & Middle School Jazz bands will be hosting a night of jazz and swing dance in the high school commons. This event is open to the public.  There will be free swing dance lessons for all at 6:30 p.m. with the concert/dance beginning at 7 p.m. Refreshments and desserts will be provided. A free will donation is encouraged but not required!

    Doodle for Google:  Everyone is encouraged to submit a design for the google webpage. This year’s theme is “When I grow up, I hope.    Check out Contest information  for information on how to enter.  

    A reminder from our District Nurse: Please help us minimize the spread of illness. This is the time of year that we typically see a peak in Influenza and want to do our best to protect our schools.     5th/6th Grade Family Math Night: Join us for an evening of hands-on math experiences and free pizza! All activities will be connected to concepts students are learning in math class! The event will be held on Tuesday, February 5th, from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Sartell Middle School commons. Please register for this event using this link:  http://bit.ly/februarymathnight.     Ice Fishing Contest:  All students in Grades 5-8 are invited to enter the SMS Ice Fishing Contest.  Contest rules are available here: Ice Fishing Contest Rules  If you have questions contact Mr. Determan in room 443. 

    Optimist Club Essay Contest: The Optimist Clubs in St Cloud sponsor an essay contest each year for students less than 19 years of age. The top two winners of this local contest are submitted in the District Contest where the winner is awarded a $2500 scholarship. For the last two years, local winners have gone on to win the District Scholarship. The local contest deadline is February 1, 2019. Click here for the application Optimist Essay application 

    AMC Math Competition: We are inviting all math enthusiasts in Grades 5-8 to take the American Math Competition exam.
