  • SMS Holiday Cafe on December 14, 2018

    In preparation for their annual event, students and staff baked Snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and even dog treats in addition to decorating their room festively. At the event, students provided a cheerful welcome to the cafe, practiced customer service skills, and calculated purchases. 

    School Board to Host Community Meetings

    The Sartell-St. Stephen ISD 748 School Board is hosting a series of community meetings. The board invites school district residents to share their thoughts on the November 6, 2018 operational levy. The board is looking for feedback in order to make an informed decision on how to move forward in budget planning.

    Superintendent Jeff Schwiebert explained, “We want to listen to the community to find out what the District can do as we plan for the future.”

    Schwiebert continued, “Through the entire process, we have encouraged our stakeholders to ask questions and give input. Prior to the levy vote, we hosted four community presentations along with five tours of the new high school. Although attendance was relatively low at most of the pre-levy events, we were always happy to listen to our constituents and their concerns. I hope that people will take the opportunity in December to meet with us to share their thoughts and ask questions.”

    • Thursday, December 6 6:30-7:30pm at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course (3125 Clubhouse Road, Sartell, MN 56377). Blackberry Ridge is providing appetizers to those who attend.
    • Monday, December 10 6:30-7:30pm at St. Stephen City Hall (2 Sixth Ave SE, St. Stephen, MN 56375)
    • Wednesday, December 12 6:30-7:30pm at Liquid Assets (1091 Second Street S #600, Sartell, MN 56377)
    • Tuesday, December 18 6:30-7:30pm at Sartell Community Center (850 19th Street S, Sartell, MN 56377)

    After hearing from stakeholders, the School Board will decide District priorities for the budget adjustment process. The District will continue to ensure decisions are student-centered and focused on providing the best education possible.

    Sartell Middle School continued their tradition of having students volunteer in the community the week of November 12. Over 370 students in Grade 7, along with approximately 26 staff, volunteered at one of 13 local non-profits.

    Sartell Middle School contributed approximately 798 hours of community service!!

    Homecoming: September 17-21Homecoming shirts

    The Sartell High School Student Council, proving Homecoming is more than theme days, football games, and welcoming back alumni, has continued the tradition of designating a recipient for fundraising during the week.  

    The Student Council decided funds would be donated to the ALS Association - Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter, which “supports people living with ALS and their loved ones through services and education.”  Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), sometimes referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, affects the function of nerves and muscles; the cause is unknown.

    While some events are for students only, the public is invited to:

    • Monday, September 17 - Royalty Rollout at the Sartell High School Auditorium. The event features lip sync and dance contests as well as Blast from the Past trivia. This event is free!
    • Friday, September 21 - parade, tailgate ($5 for burger/hotdog/brat, chips, cookie, and a beverage), and football game (the crowning of royalty will take place during halftime).

    Open Houses & Orientation

    Students and their families are welcome to join us for Open Houses and Orientation the week of August 27. Meet teachers, find your classrooms, and more during the times specified below. Click the links for specific school building and/or department information. 

    During the events, please be sure to visit with:

    Food Service
     - Staff will provide Skyward assistance
     - Free/Reduced benefit applications 
     - Deposit money into your accounts (and activate RevTrack's NEW auto-replenish option)
     - Special diet meet and greet with staff

    Health Services
     - Introduce yourself to the School Nurse ESPECIALLY if you have a health concern or change from the previous year
     - Drop off medications and paperwork - Medication Authorization
     - Immunization forms due for Pre-K, K, and 7th graders! 

    SMS & SHS: pay Full Access deposit by check or cash at Open House (or pay online here).

    ORE & PME: you are welcome to bring in school supplies during Open House.

    Late July: watch your mailboxes

    Families with students enrolled in the District will receive a printed District calendar in their mailbox. Copies will also be available at school buildings and local businesses. Visit our Calendar page for updates.

    Libraries at Pine Meadow and Oak Ridge Elementary Schools will be open June through mid-August. They have created a Bingo Board Challenge to keep students reading during the summer months. There is no fee to participate and there will be prizes for completing different types of Bingo! Stop by either library to pick up your Bingo board. Students may check out books from either school throughout the summer.

    Note: To access ORE during construction, use 27th Street to cross Pinecone Road.

    Through an anonymous donation from a Sartell-St. Stephen community member, the Green Card Voices exhibit will be available for students and staff to experience during the month of May.

    The public is invited to attend when the exhibit is at the Sartell Community Center.

    All community members, families, and friends of all ages are invited to this event that will "Show and Tell" how students are engaged with technology that is purposefully integrated into our curriculum! The evening is a true Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) event complete with a student art gallery featuring works from SMS visual arts students. 

    The free event includes a fun "make and take" art project to build and keep. The 7th Grade YES! Team and Student Council will be selling concessions to fund the purchase of permanent recycling bins for the building. 

    Over 30 technology integration projects will be highlighted by students and staff. Learn about VEX Robotics, Drones, 3D Printing, Green Screens, and much more!

    Fundraiser for Kids Fighting Hunger

    The Sartell High School Student Council and National Honor Society invite community families to attend FUNFEST from 10a to 1p on Saturday, March 17. Admission is free and activities are available for $0.25 a ticket. Enjoy carnival games, face painting, bouncy houses, and more. There is also a silent auction.

    All proceeds benefit Kids Fighting Hunger. 


    February 2, 2018 - One District, One Book

    ONE DISTRICT, ONE BOOK is here!! See videos of the ORE and PME reveals!

    Sartell-St. Stephen Public Schools is excited to bring back the One District, One Book program (ODOB) for a 3rd year! The goal of the program is to promote family literacy as well as to create a shared reading experience within the communities of Sartell and St. Stephen during the month of February which is also I Love to Read Month.

    Every family with students in kindergarten through 4th grade received a copy of The World According to Humphrey by Betty Birney on February 2. Families are encouraged to read the book following the District reading calendar (below) and participate in related activities throughout the month both at home and at school. Community members are also encouraged to get a copy of the book and read along.

    A vision of the ODOB committee is to, ultimately, encourage reading conversations that occur not only at home or at school but also at the grocery stores, banks, restaurants, etc. If you are interested in more information about the ODOB program or specifics about the planned events, please check out the One District, One Book Facebook page or our ODOB website.

    Thank you to the Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation (SSEF) for their support of the ODOB program by donating the funds to offer these books to families free of charge!
